Nepal packs temples, lakes and the world’s highest mountains into a short trip from India.

When to go

  • October–November: clear mountain views, festival season.
  • March–April: warm days and rhododendrons in bloom.
  • June–September: monsoon — green but cloudy, with road delays.

Documents

Indian citizens need no visa — carry a passport or voter ID card. Most other nationalities can get a visa on arrival. Always check the latest rules before you travel.

A classic 6–7 day route

  1. Kathmandu: Durbar Square, Swayambhunath, Boudhanath and Pashupatinath.
  2. Pokhara: sunrise at Sarangkot, Phewa Lake and the International Mountain Museum.
  3. Lumbini: the Buddha’s birthplace and the monastic zone.

Tips

  • Carry small notes; ask us about the current rules for Indian currency in Nepal.
  • Roads are slow — 200 km can take 6–7 hours.
